More time for customer service
The Sokos chain of stores uses Nordic ID handheld units
For Finnish people, SOKOS is a household name. The SOKOS department store chain belongs to the S Group, which is, among other things, the Finnish market leader in daily consumer goods. The Sokos chain includes 20 department stores and 12 specialised Emotion shops. All of the Sokos and Emotion branches use the Nordic ID handheld terminals on a daily basis.
The Nordic ID RF600 handheld terminals were first piloted in 2004 at Sokos Wiklund in Turku and the Sokos in Kuopio, states Marko Mört, System Analyst at Sokos. During the next year, the handheld units were taken into active use across the entire chain. The handhelds are used for different types of product enquiries, Stock take and issues related to product availability.
MORE TIME FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
Marko Mört has experienced the benefits of using the Nordic ID handheld units since the mid-90s. At that time, he was working in the Helsinki Cooperative Society (part of the S Group), whose Alepa shops used the earlier RF400 handheld model.
- We had very positive experience of using those handheld terminals. They accelerate and facilitate work, leaving more time for customer service. The number of errors in Stock takes, for example, has reduced to a fraction of what they were in earlier years. The staff was enthusiastic about learning to use the handhelds. It’s no wonder either, since they facilitate rapid access to information.
A HANDHELD TERMINAL IN COMPANY COLOURS
Once the programs have been tailored to the customer’s needs, the outward appearance of the handheld units can be personalized as well. The Sokos brand colour is dark blue, so the handhelds were manufactured in the same colour.
The same RF600 handheld model has been used in both the Sokos and Emotion shops, but the background program has been further developed. - Soon we will also be getting order processing software for the handhelds. We work in close co-operation with each shop, so we know their specific needs.
Co-operation with Nordic ID has also gone very smoothly. - The service we have been given has been both professional and friendly. The units are reliable, and the company was able to accurately suggest which products would be best for us. I hope that the handheld units will last a lifetime, because they have proven to be valuable and handy tools in our business, Mört praises.
